The name Punta Cana refers to the sugar cane plantations that used to be the town's main source of economics until tourism took over in the 1970’s. The shallow waters and natural marine pools with wonderful coral reef make a safe environment for swimmers and eco adventures lovers. The main shopping area is located in Bavaro with shopping malls, fast-food stores, drug stores, fine restaurants, banks, clinics, workshops, supermarkets, and schools.
Getting there you need to fly into the Punta Cana International Airport, which is one of the busiest and connected airports in the Caribbean. Getting to your hotel if you don’t have transportation included you are best to pre book your transportation before coming to save time and money on arrival and also so you don’t get stuck having to share a bus that will go from hotel to hotel.
